Architectural Evaluation of 3D-Printed Buildings

3D-printed constructions express the capacity of automated technologies to elaborate buildings through additive manufacturing. These require an architectural design according their manufacturing conditions. This research reviews that have been executed with these in order determine characteristics. From Internet search, a register was compiled 112 cases around globe. They include some 10,000 m2 built surface area and were mainly erected last five years. The review shows by approximately thirty executors, mostly entrepreneurs’ companies who made different as single-family dwellings constructed gantries or robotic arms, either on-site factories. Most components printed are walls, single double filaments interior voids. In cases, they integrate reinforcements openings. geometry varies between orthogonal layouts replicate existing spherical shapes reflect printing capabilities. Many combination characteristics, mixing technological adaptation architecture new operative reveals emerging development this construction system progressive consolidation attributes.
